Do You Have Something to Share with Us?
Do you have tips and information about your community, your work, events, business or social activities? We’re accepting guest submissions from local writers about these and any other topics that would be on interest to our readers.
Share what you know while informing our readers
We’re looking for authors and bloggers who have something to share. This could be practical tips and as well as the latest news that we could share with our neighbors and regular readers. Lay your articles out in a well-written post and submit it to us for review. You are welcome to include one, but no more than two, links of your own in a short bio at the end of your article if you like.
If our editors accept your article, we’ll make sure it goes live in no time; so everyone can read about the latest perspectives from one of our neighbors. Write in your own authentic voice and style so people will see more of the person behind the words — you.
Are there conditions?
You must follow our guest submission guidelines. If you don’t, we’ll send your article back in an email with a note about why our editors rejected it. In some cases, you may just need to resubmit your post with revisions for a second-chance editorial review.
Do these things:
- Write the article about a topic you know about – either directly or indirectly
- Word count of at least 450 words, but not more than 650
- Use subtitles to break up the article
- Write directly to the reader
- Submit fresh, never published, original posts and give proper credit for any quotes and paraphrases you include
- Include a short author bio (3 to 5 lines) with one, but no more than two appropriate links (optional)
- Check your article for grammatical errors and other mistakes before submitting
- Answer each reader comment on your post within 24 hours
- Promote your published article to friends and followers on your social media pages.
Do not do these things:
- Don’t write about an inappropriate topic (i.e. something that children can’t read)
- Don’t submit material that has already been published somewhere else. We’ll find out. Just don’t
- Don’t plagiarize the work of others and try to pass it off as your own. Even paraphrasing the work of another (so it sounds different) is still stealing
- Don’t get discouraged if our editors reject your post. Fix the problems and try again
- Don’t forget to promote your published submission to your friends and followers.
Finally…
It’s a privilege to write an article for another site and see it published there with your name and knowledge displayed for all to enjoy. However, we reserve the right to choose which articles we will publish. So, say your piece. Share you experiences. Pass on your tips. Enlighten us with your knowledge. We’d love to hear it – and so would your neighbors and our readers. So Submit your article!
